Hmmm, this could be a prblem

It appears that there's a considerable ga between the frames engine mount and the engine. I hope this doesn't mean the frame was bent in a wreck. Also this needs to be a sug fit.

New bike, another project!

Picked up this beautiful 72 Bonnie from a vintage bike collector in Levittown (more on his cool bikes coming soon). The bike is 85-90% rebuilt chromed and painted so I'm making a list of what I need to complete her and ordering everything this week.

New conical wheel rebuild part 1

I've decided that to be a truely great bike builder (someday) I should really know how to build and lace wheels. The front wheel on my BSA is rough, but I don't want to take it off and lose riding time. This wheel came from oley for $40. Looks rough? Yup. I am going to make this into a beauty.....

Oley 2010 highlights

Just checked out the Oley Swap meet this weekend. I picked up a few spares for the Thunderbolt (new front wheel, airbox covers, new handlebar switches). Check out Smoke and Throttle for complete set of pictures.

Lots of spacers correct pipe balance

As you can see I put a bunch of washers to (almost) correct the misaligned pipe stays. They need a few more spacers which I'll eventually replace with solid spacers and the right size bolt. Kind of a bummer that I spent so much on these pipes and they're crooked.

Pipes still don't line up at cross section

The first set of headers I ordered wouldn't fit at the cross section. I thought it was the left header being welded wrong. I exchanged it and the new ones are the same deal. My original left header was cracked at the cross fitting. Is it my exhaust ports?
